PARISH CHURCH OF SANTIAGO APOSTOL: In the west part of the Municipal Palace, the Onil Parish Church is located. The church was completed in 1778 by the architect Cambra. It is 25 m long, 9 m wide and 13 m high. There is only one ship. The pillars are made of stone, like the whole church with capitals and semicircular arches. The vaults are barrel, propped up with semicircular arches with edges. The lateral surfaces, between the diagonal edges, are painted in fresco, representing Theological and Cardinal virtues. Among other things, it is worth highlighting its beautiful High Altar, which was previously made of carved wood framed in the Baroque Churrigueresque style. Polychrome in gold and presiding over the Magnificent Altarpiece of Santiago Apóstol el Mayor, from the s. XV whose artistic value is incalculable, is an anonymous author but according to scholars his signature belongs to the one known as Master of Onil. Along with the Altarpiece, due to its great artistic value, the Valencian Baroque Chapel of the Nostre Senyor Robat, on the left, the Baptistery whose frescoes, dating from 1950, are the work of the well-known International artist born in Onil, Eusebio Sempere. Without a doubt a beautiful parish temple recommended to visit and contemplate.
